Introduction to Wetlands/and Chem test Thursday

Hi everyone!

Today we began our studies in the Wetlands Unit for Science!

We learned about the importance of adaptations for each living being's survival in their own environment, and how different environments might call for a different set of adaptations. We even did a fun experiment in class where we were tasked with filling out a questionnaire WITHOUT the use of some of our very important human adaptations. Some of us could not use our eyes, or our thumbs, or our arms, or even out mouths! We quickly discovered how important adaptations can be for us to live happily and successfully.

Here are some videos about the adaptations of a Peppered Moth, as well as how some creatures change over time to meet the needs of their evolving environment.

We'll keep learning about wetlands as the year comes to a close, and will have a field trip to Weaselhead Park on May 7th (forms to come home soon) to explore some more about these amazing ecosystems!

KIDS- Tell your parents about your super creature that you designed today with all the adaptations you think would be super important!

ALSO- IMPORTANT INFORMATION- WE WILL BE HAVING A CHEMISTRY TEST ON THURSDAY THIS WEEK!!!! STUDENTS HAVE ALL REVIEWED CONCEPTS AND HAVE A VOCABULARY LIST THEY ARE HIGHLY, HIGHLY, ENCOURAGED TO STUDY FROM OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

You will need to summarize the history of your topic, and its relevance today, as a research paper. Imagine you are a teacher and have to teach your classmates all about the subject! Rememb

What's new in Room 2

Hi everyone, Today we had a challenge in class to try and come up with strategies to measure the volume of a very irregularly shaped item- and boy was it hard! Here is a picture of the item you had to work with: We came up with some ideas- and a lot of frustration with this perplexing problem!!! The class then watched the attached video on Archimedes Principle, and learned about his discovery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijj58xD5fDI We have spent a lot of time in our Geometry unit, and will be getting ready for a test that will be scheduled for the end of next week (Date TBA). Here are the following criteria we will be responsible for knowing on this test: 1. Calculating Area, Volume, and Perimeter (Perimeter of irregularly shaped items included, Area of rectangular shapes, or irregular shapes that are two or more rectangles combined, and Volume of a cube or rectangular prism). 2. Identifying shapes (including squares, triangles, parallelograms, trapezoids,  pentagon up
